Mosman Park (WA), WA

By Lauren McCaleb · Reviewed by Dylan Duncan ·

Mosman Park is an affluent western suburb of Perth, occupying the narrow neck of land between the Indian Ocean and the north bank of the Swan River, with a long stretch of river frontage and parkland. The area lies within the traditional Country of the Whadjuk Noongar people. For many years it was known as Buckland Hill, after the prominent rise that long served as a navigation mark for shipping, before taking its present name in 1937 from the Sydney suburb of Mosman. Surprisingly for so leafy a place, Mosman Park was one of Perth's main industrial centres until the 1970s, with a car-assembly plant, a sugar refinery and other works that have all since closed. Today it is almost entirely residential, its waterfront parklands lined with grand homes that underline its standing as one of the city's most prestigious addresses.
